It is the ONLY industry which has consistently grown in massive proportions for the past 3 decades. You can source products, or be an affiliate for any product and you can supply practically anywhere in the world - without having to leave your home! Now, I'm not suggesting you become a hermit, however, I am saying that owning an online business can truly give you the whole "work from home" experience!
If you are going to be building your own business from the ground up - you need to consider the product, who is going to produce it and where? How will you warehouse that product and then distribute it? Which systems will you use? Will you outsource or manage it yourself, and do you have the tools, training, skills, contacts, etc, etc? What about providing the services, marketing the product, after sales/customer service? What about returns/refunds and what about having to manage all the accounts? Are you capable of staying on top of who needs to be paid what, when and how? And how will this affect your tax? Do you need to register a company or a trust? Do you need to register for GST and what are you able to claim? These are a lot of hats one has to wear, or a lot of salaries and outsourcing that will cost you a lot of money. And a lot of time. How long will it take before you see a return on your investment, and again, how much will you have to invest to start up?
This may all sound extremely overwhelming, and trust me, it is! I have done this a few times! There are easier ways - MUCH easier ways to start a business - legitimate home businesses, with low start up costs, and where the products and services are all provided for you.
